In the 1830s settlers began moving to Illinois. The C&NW railroad was already in place and the Fox River was robust enough to support a water-powered factory. The land adjacent the Fox, running from the Carpentersville factory to Algonquin, was variously used over the years. Beginning in 2000, using my medium format camera, I began shooting the various abandoned materials still visible in the region. I scanned the negatives into my computer and used Photoshop to reverse the hue of each image, replicating the appearance of the negatives.
