In Kings Road, Mona Kuhn lyrically reconsiders the realms of time and space within the architectural elements of the Rudolph Schindler House in Los Angeles. The enigmatic subject of her solarized pictures is a fictional, ethereal figure inspired by a letter from Schindler to a mysterious woman. Her fleeting presence partly blends with the house’s own exposed skin and structures. By using solarization, an experimental photographic darkroom technique, Kuhn pushes representation further into a metaphysical realm.
