After my grandfather passed away, my grandmother chose to live alone. Her generation had limited material and spiritual resources to build a rich social life, and her diminished hearing made it challenging for her to connect with her community. Home, tomb documents the fragments of my grandmother’s status quo. It reflects the typical living conditions of many elderly people in China. From the notes my grandmother has made from the newspaper to the objects around her, the still life that she experiences slowly transforms what was once a home into a tomb in the middle of nowhere.
