"Punks on the Ave" was created in Seattle, Washington, in the 1980s and exhibited at the Frye Art Museum in 1987. I've revisited my negatives to edit this new series. Seattle is known for grunge music from the 90s, but before that, Punk music and fashion prevailed. Most of the individuals presented in this series were denizens of Seattle's University District, and the images were taken around the 4200 block of University Way (we called it "The Ave"). The collection presents a stark contrast to Seattle's contemporary reputation and image as a tech city - now home to Amazon and Microsoft.
