The Ghost Forest transforms the destructive force of wildfires into photographs made of ash. Black carbon soot, the fundamental building block of life and the remains of a fire becomes carbon prints on glass. Installed in the middle of the room, the viewer is invited to wander through, observing all stages in the life of a forest. In printing with ash on glass, I accentuate the fragility of the forests in the face of our climate crisis. The work harnesses the remains of fire and transforms the devastation in ways that allow us to find lasting moments of beauty, hope and insight.
