I am a photographer, artist and daughter of a chimney sweep. Since childhood I have lived close to the world of chimney sweeps – full of tradition, honour and symbols such as the uniform, the tall hat and the brush. Although the craft is passed down from father to son, my father only had daughters and for years I thought I would follow in his footsteps. When I discovered wet collodion, I knew it was time to re-enter the world of chimney sweeps. It seemed like the perfect combination – to return to that world with a camera and create portraits using this noble, historical technique.
