Roots was born from 9 months of personal and ancestral research. Each image began as a film self-portrait, then was rephotographed onto film again through interventions: printed on various materials, torn, buried, touched. The project explores generational trauma, familial and national identity, and the rethinking of faith. Through gestures and interventions it reflects how we deconstruct and rebuild ourselves—fragmented, reassembled, and occasionally transformed. Symbolism runs throughout—from heirlooms to natural elements to semi-permanent tattoos I designed specifically for this series.
