I was born in Sendai, Japan in 1965. Learned photography from my father, Miki Ono. Studies modern art and photography at University of Tsukuba. Move to New York in 1998. I’ve photographed with black and white negative film on a 4x5 camera. I am interested in connection between myself and others. I feel my old fashioned camera has been acting as a bridge between my subject and I. I mostly take photo of people I know but the image comes out from the camera gives me new perspective about the subject and me. Like humans, I believe that everything has personality. I make portrait of objects too.
