In this series, I printed cyanotype portraits of fellow trans women and femmes using digital negatives from film photographs onto teabags—fragile, often discarded objects that echo how trans lives are treated. Yet through these prints, our presence becomes visible and tangible. The use of teabags also plays on the slang “Tea,” from Black ballroom and LGBT culture, where “T” stood for truth—and truth came to mean transgender. These portraits show our truth, our presence, our identities. Trans lives are part of culture and history. Even in the most delicate forms, we persist. We endure.
