In Sicily, far from official racetracks, illegal horse races take place at dawn on public roads turned into improvised tracks. Around this world move young people who spend their days in illegal stables, caring for the horses with total devotion: they feed them, treat them and look after them as part of their own identity. It is a complex bond, born in marginalized contexts where passion, illegality and betting coexist. The horses become symbols of redemption, but also victims of an underground system.
