Beautiful Monster is a photographic project on Skopje’s Brutalist architecture, shaped by the 1963 earthquake and international reconstruction at Brutalism’s peak. The Skopje General Post Office appears alien—like a spacecraft beside the Vardar River. These and other “beautiful monsters” embody resilience, utopian ambition, and material honesty. The project includes a hand-made, self-published artist book (20 + 5 AP) with 10 contact prints from 4×5 negatives and a silkscreened cover in a specially designed Brutalist typeface.
