Seagulls never abandon the water for long, but are free to walk, swim, and fly. They are close enough to people and get food from them. They are always in between — water and earth, water and the sky, nature and people. They've got the freedom to choose where they wish to be. A ferry trip is a moment of in-between-life, when people can find themselves between parts of the earth, moving somewhere and still being on board, knowing the destination but not being directly responsible for the journey. In this series, I'm exploring how birds and people are alike and different to each other.
