Shadow Lives documents a close circle of friends and artists over five years. It contains portraits and interiors that reveal how our relationships define our sense of place. The series also shows the way that queer people and artists re-evaluate their relationship to domestic space, as a site for fantasy and theatre, and the ongoing need to create spaces of intimacy within an increasingly hostile social landscape. Shadow Lives is a meditation on intimacy and transformation, on light and shadow, and a record of time passing and the relationships nurtured that make this passing visible.
