Ni de aquí/Ni de allá is an artist book that explores the liminal experience of those who feel between worlds. Beginning as performance art, UV-tanned words on my back evolved into a series of images wrapped in the flags of both countries I call home. These were contact printed using Vandyke brown, a 19th century technique historically used to document colonial subjects, reclaimed here for personal narrative, on Japanese Kitakata paper. Bound dos-à-dos, two books share one spine but never resolve into unified pages. The object itself is the argument: dual identity that cannot be reconciled.
