Maranhão is a socially engaged analog reportage in Caxias and São Luís (Maranhão, Brazil). It portrays favela life: forgotten realities of crime, mortality, and insecurity from absent governance. Women lose husbands to bar fights; mothers, minor children. Black-and-white portraits (Minolta X-GM 35mm, Ilford HP5 400) capture traumas and serene sharing. Place studies (Mamiya 67 medium format, Kodak Ektar 100) reveal poverty, yet solidarity, agriculture, and faith anchor identity and joy. Shot on film, developed and scanned for a photobook.
