This past year I committed to learning film and brought only my Canon AE-1 to Milos, Greece. No backup camera. Film taught me to slow down, observe, and notice the details of Greek life I might have otherwise walked past — a sleeping cat by a blue door, a fisherman at work, the color of the water from a boat ladder. I particularly love how beautifully film captures the sea. A second round of joy came weeks later, reliving the journey through the scans.
