This work, a self portrait, is a meditation on the synergistic relationship between the body, nourishment (by food, thought and aesthetics), and the ecosystems within which we exist (the natural, the social and the arts). The funereal elements are commentary on how consumption necessitates the death of another. Referencing Meret Oppenheim's ‘Le Festin', the work also grieves the writing-out of women throughout history, including in the history of art, and their relegation to the status of muse. It imagines a future of rediscovery and connection, where that imbalance is distant memory.
