I first captured Hannah in the theatrical Málaga sun, standing in the door frame as if on a stage, light pouring in. Not frozen, but held. The second exposure is a butterfly specimen case that we found in the old house we were staying in. Wings pinned open, suspended between beauty and stillness. I’ve always been drawn to these displays, there is something about the quiet tension between life and preservation. Like the butterflies, Hannah is caught somewhere between movement and memory. A way of keeping something that doesn’t want to be kept.
