Mother, Not Other is a project seeking to extend & address the limited visual space & form attributed to maternal physical inheritance. Specifically, mother & children who are not immediately associated as belonging together through their physical attributes. Mothers & children who have different coloured skin or features. Mothers who have adopted or are not the genetic parent. Mothers with children who are disabled. Mothers whose reality remains absent from the canon of mothering imagery. These images celebrate the intention of the project with clarity, connection and beauty.
