In the wetlands of Florida, morning breaks slowly across the water. Silver, gold, and orange mix with shadows and move over the surface before the day becomes clear. These photos were taken during the brief morning hour when light is still changing and wildlife passes between darkness and reflection. I was not looking for clean portraits. I wanted the birds to feel as they appeared in the field: quiet, half-hidden, and shaped by the water around them. Together, the series follows the wetlands at first light, where birds pass through shifting water and the morning holds them for a moment.
