This one place that, over the years, has quietly absorbed a soup of memories, connections, gestures, melancholy, and meaning. A table that is the greatest happiness of my life. A room where we locked away the chaos of books, playdough, and plastic toys every evening. And which now shields my chaos of books, scraps of memories, adult mail, and sometimes even myself from the rest of the world. Walls that must bear what I sometimes find hard to bear. A garden with a view into the fog. Things that have to be this way and therefore carry their own kind of pain.
