Shot in the Siwa Oasis, Egypt, on what was once an ancient ocean seabed. The series moves between two states. In the first, the figure is unclothed, curled into the rock formations, mirroring them, held by the land and becoming part of it. In the second, she stands on the open dunes, clothed, tall and separate, small against the vastness. The contrast is the work. The body that merges with nature, and the body that stands apart from it, on autopilot, the way we move through the world as separate entities when we might instead be one with it. Shot on medium format, 35mm and 8mm film.
