I always admired tattoos but knew no artists or tattooed friends. Walking through Harajuku, I spotted a tattoo shop. Without an appointment, I walked in and asked to take photos. A charming woman said, "I’m getting a tattoo now; you can shoot." She let me photograph the whole process. Using a Nikon FM2 film camera meant she couldn’t check the photos instantly, yet she trusted me enough to let me shoot her buttocks. Her warmth and trust made me feel a deep sense of love within the body modification community, inspiring me to explore this culture further.
