I turn, I tilt, I hide. How to make peace with how we appear? "As If I Were" is a series of manipulated Polaroid self-portraits about face dysmorphia, where self-perception becomes unstable and detached from how others see the same face. Working only with instant film, I stage, double-expose, chemically alter and recombine each unique print until the image feels bearable. Distortion becomes a strange form of relief.
