I started flying helicopters 17 years ago and this last summer I took a co pilot position to see if I liked flying really big birds into really big fires. I took a point and shoot 35 mm along for most rides and would just click away in all the chaos. I got this pic of the captain lining up his water drop. The size of wildfires are hard to capture but this shot gives a good idea of the working environment from the cockpit. Metal, smoke, flame, chaos, precision, procedure, and more smoke.
