In 2022, while in Italy, I was deeply affected by the story of a mother who left her young daughter to die of starvation. It led me to reflect on the loneliness that can accompany motherhood and the gap between lived experience and idealised images of women. Developed with my daughter as performer, this project explores motherhood and womanhood as states shaped by love, sacrifice, and endurance. It portrays women who continue to carry hopes and dreams while enduring challenges that often go unseen.
