SÂ DE MÂ means sea salt in genoese dialect. Halophytic plants grow in environments with a high salt concentration. I selected typical plants of the area bordering Portofino Sea Park to create artistic b&w still lifes. The photographs were shot on negative wet plate collodion and printed on salted paper. I made the paper using Portofino seawater, creating images that are truly “made of sea". I have chosen to use these techniques because I love their artisan souls. Every smudge, every unpredictable flaw, every speck of dust is an unrepeatable signature that makes each print a unique piece.
