Focusing on the Sierra de Guadalupe, a mountain range increasingly transformed by urban expansion, this series uses mordançage to subject the photograph to the same forces reshaping the landscape. As the emulsion dissolves, the mountain gradually disappears while the city remains. The chemical process reenacts the imbalance through which natural ecosystems steadily give way to urban growth, making tangible a future in which the mountain can no longer be recovered. The photograph reveals that landscapes, too, can disappear without return.
