After the Future was photographed on film in Tokyo at night. I was not looking for an imagined futuristic Tokyo, but for the point where that idea has already become ordinary life. Neon signs, police boxes, elevators and restaurant windows are part of a daily routine shaped by work, solitude, desire and passing encounters. Shot on film, the series looks at the city after its spectacle has faded. It focuses on brief gestures and uncertain connections:a glance, a pause, a body caught before reacting. After the Future is an ongoing observation of Tokyo as both a real place and a mental landscape.
