Salt and Bone is an intimate archive of a vanishing tide. For the past four years, I’ve documented my niece and her cousins growing up against the backdrop of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina. Awash in hazy blues and sun-bleached pinks, these images capture the tender, predictable rhythm of youth. Yet, just outside the frame, a quiet erasure is taking place. As the girls grow taller and stronger, the coastline beneath their feet is actively dissolving into the sea. These photographs serve as a love letter to the wonder of girlhood and a gentle witness to mirroring, fleeting histories.
