Shot on 35mm film, this series portrays Puerto Girón, an Afro-descendant community whose life and memory flow through the León River. Water and Afro hair become living archives: the river preserves stories of childhood, labor, displacement and resistance, while braiding passes ancestral knowledge between generations. Once maps of freedom, braids now echo the river as routes of survival, identity and belonging. More than documenting a place, the work listens to a community recognizing its past and carrying it into the future.
